Welcome to my website! I’m Bill Hall. I was elected Lincoln County Commissioner in 2004, re-elected in 2008, and I am currently running for another term. I hope you’ll spend a few minutes exploring these pages, which will tell you about the things I’ve accomplished in my first two terms, my background and qualifications, and my goals for the future. I encourage you to become an informed and involved voter and participate in the process, during the current election season and beyond

As a commissioner, I have worked to provide greater access, both formally and informally, to the workings of county government. This has included video recording our weekly meetings on a regular basis and making them available on both local cable television and the county website; holding 11 night meetings a year in locations around the county (both regular board meetings and budget meetings); making more information available through the website; and ongoing feedback from dozens of advisory boards, committees and commissions.

It was my pleasure to read to students at the Newport Head Start classroom. The county commissioners serve as the board for Community Services Consortium, which operates Head Start in the county, and we have played a lead role in securing new Head Start facilities in Newport, Toledo and Lincoln City.

I travel throughout the county and participate in many community functions. I have an open-door policy at my office for both county staff and the public at large. I encourage you to call me ahead of time so we can schedule a mutually convenient time to meet.  I welcome emails at: bhall@co.lincoln.or.us and calls at 541-265-4100. A good commissioner is never off-duty; I am always approachable with citizen concerns. (Shortly after my wife and I married, our daughter told me that she liked going to the store with her mother better than she did with me. I was momentarily crestfallen, until she explained that was because it took about 20 minutes with mom and an hour with me.)

I encourage you to follow my Commissioner Bill Hall page on Facebook for regular updates about county issues. I’m also on Twitter at: #BillHall59. I think it’s important to embrace social networking to communicate with constituents; it’s especially valuable as a way to engage younger voters with their government.

Although I’ve been the recipient of many honors and awards, I am proudest of being known as “the people’s commissioner.”
